Week of Feb. 23-27

Monday- practice adjective and adverb phrases (quiz on Tuesday), turn in symbolism examples ( 4 square activity), discussion questions “The Runaway”

Tuesday- adjective and adverb phrases quiz, review poem for test on Wednesday

Wednesday- TEST on “The Runaway”, begin infinitive phrases

Thursday- continue with infinitive phrases/ create definition poem using infinitive phrases

Friday- bellwork quiz, complete poem (add pictures) 

AR program

Please remember that all students should pay the $4 required for the new AR program. The money should be paid by Feb. 20.  Students will be able to use the new program immediately. 

Feb. 2- 13

Monday- Cartoon vocabulary/ organizational chart/ vocabulary current event

Tuesday- TCAP writing assessment (practice)/ adjective phrase practice/ word scramble for “The Highwayman”

Wednesday- read and discuss poem “The Highwayman”- skills: narrative, simile, metaphor, imagery, tone

Thursday- creating a timeline, discussion questions for poem, vocabulary practice

Friday- create a new point of view for poem/ bellwork quiz, adverb phrases

Monday- vocab. current event due/ adverb phrases

Tuesday- prepare for dramatic poetry readings

Wednesday- Dramatic Poetry readings/ adverb phrase practice

Thursday- adverb phrase practice/ “The Highwayman” test

Friday- bellwork quiz/ combine adjective and adverb phrases

January 20- 30

Tuesday/ Wednesday - Read and discuss “Annabel Lee” by Poe page 261- theme and tone

Thursday- Test on poem/ notes and discussion on adjective and adverb phrases

Friday- bellwork quiz/ practice adj. and adv. phrases/ begin reading “The Highwayman”

Monday and Tuesday- read and discuss “The Highwayman”- theme, narrative, tone

Wednesday and Thursday-  Use essays to create narrative poem with imagery by adding phrases (and music)

Friday- COMPUTER LAB/ bellwork quiz

 

Week January 12- 16

Monday- Types of Introductions/ Final copy of essay/ notes on prepositions/ HW- workbook pages 37-40

Tuesday- Review preposition homework, preposition practice, peer edit essays

Wednesday- 50 preposition test (page 362 in grammar book), preposition practice

Thursday- Read “Annabel Lee” and discuss poetry terms

Friday- bellwork quiz,  adjective phrase notes and practice

**Be sure to begin gathering poems and information about your assigned poet!!!

Week of January 5- 9

Monday- Essay writing with transition words and phrases

Tuesday- continue with essay writing/ begin prepositional phrases- memorize the 50 most common prepositions- page 362- test next Wednesday

Wednesday- practice with prepositions/ final copy of essay

Thursday- Peer edit/ practice with prepositions/ Poetry Project Information

Friday- bellwork quiz- prepositions- read poem “Annabel Lee” page 260 

Monday- vocabulary for novel study, notes on adverbs, “Do the Write Thing” essay due Dec. 1

Tuesday- pre-reading activity for novel

Wednesday- THINK LINK 2

Thursday- adverb practice

Friday- turn in any missing work

Monday- In- house field trip/ novel packets/ character assignments for Nothing but the Truth and begin reading Stave 1 for A Christmas Carol.

Tuesday- continue reading/ discussion of novels

Week of Nov. 12-14

Wednesday- Review verb test/ begin “After 20 Years”- vocabulary scramble

Thursday- Read and discuss “After 20 Years”/ create graphic organizer

Friday- Bellwork quiz/ answer discussion questions/ create vocabulary scramble

Week of Oct. 27- 31

Monday- election activities/ turn in action verb list, ghost story plan, and final copy of essay

Tuesday- election activities/ work on ghost story

Wednesday- DEBATES

Thursday- guidance and spelling bee

Friday- guest speaker/ ghost story due!

Week of Oct. 20- 24

Monday- peer edit President essays/ work on election activities

Tuesday- Mrs. Munier attends “Facing History and Ourselves” workshop; students practice action verbs

Wednesday- work on election activities/ complete peer editing process- add conclusion to essay and revise

Thursday-work on election activities/ more action verb practice and helping verbs/ verb phrases

Friday- bellwork quiz/ turn in story plan for ghost story/ practice debates/ election activities/ linking verb practice
